Why this matters

Brain–computer interfaces could change what is possible for millions of Americans.

They could help people with disabilities move, communicate, and live more independently; give patients with serious conditions new ways to restore lost function and improve quality of life; and help wounded service members regain abilities lost in combat.

Realizing these possibilities calls for the U.S. government and the country’s leading innovators to work together to move promising technologies from the lab into the hands of the Americans who stand to benefit most.

The roundtable

This focused, invitation-only conversation brings together government, industry, researchers, and the disability community to discuss safe development, sustainable payment, and rapid deployment.
